Model UN

Each spring a “delegation” from WVU’s International Studies program participates in the annual National Model United Nations conference held in New York City (with one session in the U.N. General Assembly). In past years WVU has represented countries such as Hungary, Oman, Azerbaijan, and North Korea. The Model U.N. is offered as part of a three credit class in which students prepare for the conference by studying the U.N. structure and processes, international issues before the U.N., and “our” country’s positions on these issues. In April, the delegation participates week-long conference simulation of international negotiations with nearly 175 other delegations (and nearly 1800 students) from throughout the United States and, indeed, the world.
