Global Connections
Within the Global Connections area of emphasis, students can focus their coursework in international business, international development, international environment, or global health.
- The international business concentration is designed for students with an interest in working in the private sector for companies involved in international trade and finance. Suggested courses for students interested in international business include BUSA 202, ECON 202, ECON 225, ECON 451, and ECON 455.
- The international development concentration is designed for students with interests in economic, social/cultural, and political change in the developing regions of the world. Suggested courses for students interested in international development include BUSA 202, ECON 202, ECON 225, ECON 451, ECON 455, GEOG 209, GEOG 411, POLS 230, POLS 360, and WGST 345.
- The international environment concentration is intended for students with an interest in environmental issues that are global in scope and how they shape international affairs. Courses are designed to introduce students to the complexity of environmental problems and their international implications. Suggested courses for students interested in international environment include BIOL 105, ENVP 155, GEOG 207, GEOG 415, POLS 338, SOCA 417, SOCA 458, and WMAN 150.
- The global health concentration is designed for students with an interest in health issues that transcend national boundaries and require global solutions. Suggested courses for students interested in global health include COMM 309, PUBH 101, PUBH 201, PUBH 222, SOCA 358, and SOCA 481.
