Security and DiplomacyWithin the Security and Diplomacy area of emphasis, students can focus their coursework around national security or diplomacy.
- The intelligence and national security concentration is designed for students with specific interests in careers in intelligence analysis with national security agencies (e.g., the CIA or the military) or elsewhere in the policy community. Suggested courses for students interested in national security include GEOG 302, HIST 463, HIST 464, POLS 301, POLS 302, POLS 461, and SOCA 345.
- The diplomacy concentration is designed primarily for students with broad interests in international politics and, as such, career aspirations ranging from diplomacy (e.g. the foreign service or international organizations), the analysis of contemporary conflicts within the policy community, and/or academia with a specialization in international relations. Suggested courses for students interested in diplomacy include GEOG 302, HIST 463, HIST 464, POLS 360, POLS 361, POLS 362, POLS 363, POLS 364, POLS 365, POLS 368, and POLS 461
